Our next regular meeting is Thursday, May 17 at Heroes Restaurant in Warrensburg. We have dinner between 5 and 6 pm, followed by a brief meeting and then a program featuring our candidate for Congress, Teresa Hensley. We hope you will join us.
Just before our meeting, Harris & Harris Law is sponsoring a reception for Teresa, starting at 5 pm.
Earlier that afternoon Ike Skelton will speak at a Pre-Memorial Day Program May 17 Honoring WWII Veterans
“Honoring Our World War II Veterans,” begins
at 2:30 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 500 N.
Ridgeview Drive, in Warrensburg. The program also will honor a
number of local veterans.
This
will be the third program in the University of Central Missouri’s
Lifelong Learning Series on “World War II in American Memory.”
Participants in the event will be the UCM Department of Military Science
and Leadership, Matthews-Crawford Post 131 of The American Legion,
William A. Carleton Post 2513 of the VFW, and Missouri Veterans
Home, all of Warrensburg. The Clinton High School Junior ROTC Honor
Guard will post and retire the colors. General Scott Vander Hamm,
Commander, 509th Bomb Wing, will be expressing gratitude for the
Veterans service to our country.
UCM professor emeritus of music, Neal Seipp, will play
“To the Colors” and “Taps” on the trumpet; KMOS-TV Coordinator of
Corporate and Community Support, Mark Pearce, accompanied by Alice
Coleman, will lead the audience in singing “God Bless America;” retired
UCM Health Center staff member Shirley Briscoe will sing “May the Good
Lord Bless and Keep You;” and Four Good Friends of Sweet Adelines
International will
close the program with “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” Warrensburg attorney
Bob Welling will introduce the keynote speaker.
